საქართველოს ბიოქიმიკოსთა ასოციაციის VII კონფერენცია

The VII Conference of the Association of Georgian Biochemists took place on December 6, 2025, at Ilia State University, co-sponsored by Tbilisi Medic. The event brought together researchers to share breakthroughs in biochemistry, molecular biology, and neuroscience, while highlighting international activities and publications from FEBS.

Key Scientific Sessions

I. Neurology & Molecular Insights

  • Opening & FEBS Updates: Featured introductory reports by R. Solomonia and E. Zhuravliova on European Biochemical Society activities.

  • Neurodegeneration & Brain Chemistry: Presentations explored how dietary lectins affect neurodegeneration (N. Zhgenti), the interaction of myelin basic protein isomers (N. Mamulashvili et al.), and the neuroprotective effects of Fazudil on metabolic syndrome in the hippocampus (O. Bibilashvili).

  • II. Cellular Dynamics & Toxicology

    • Enzymatic & Immune Research: Discussions covered emerging insights into Dopamine and $Na, K-ATPase$ (G. Chkadua et al.) and the impacts of p-cresol on macrophage plasticity (M. Chikviladze et al.).

    • Metabolic & Toxin Stress: Studies examined L-arginine’s effect on energy metabolism in depressed models (T. Mantashashvili) and prenatal phthalate exposure on hippocampal protein associations (N. Kiknadze et al.).

    III. Genetics, Cancer & Epigenetics

    • Epigenetic Therapies: Highlighted the long-term antiepileptogenic actions of myo-inositol using transcriptomic and DNA methylome data (L. Tsverava et al.).

    • Oncology Treatments: Evaluated combined Topoisomerase I poisoning and PARP inhibition therapies in lung adenocarcinoma cell lines (I. Engibariani & G. Papulashvili).

A concurrent poster session showcased diverse biochemical applications, including sheep mitochondrial DNA profiling, biodegradable polymers in agriculture, and the use of Georgian wine production byproducts to treat liver disease.

The event concluded with the Young Scientist Poster Awards, presented by Elene Khonelidze on behalf of Tbilisi Medic to celebrate outstanding next-generation research.
